MAKE IT! Studio is a hands-on sewing and craft studio with a maximum of 9 students at a time. Due to our small class size and high demand during Summer Camp we added an amazing 2nd location in Park Slope. The space is in the exhibition space at the Japanese cultural institution, J-COLLABO on 7th st. We chose this location because it is a huge space, where we can break the class up into 2 age groups and now offer MAKE IT to 5 and 6 year old's! We also love that it is just a few blocks from JJ Byrne Playground, for some outdoor play time to break up the day with. Camp will be held daily from 9 am to 12:00 Our camp schedule is based on week-long themes all summer. This week’s theme will be CALLING ALL FASHIONISTAS, where your child will design, Illustrate, and sew their own outfit! The younger group will do hand sewing and the older campers will use sewing machines! They will all leave with a full outfit and matching accessories! They even get a chance to do some fashion illustrating if they fancy. Our teaching method is to encourage individual thinking and creativity by letting our students have the freedom to create what they imagine. By offering principles and design guidance to guide this creativity the children will be in a formal yet playful environment that will both teach and entertain. For our repeating students we make sure they continue to be challenged and that they have new projects to entertain them. We also make sure not to repeat projects throughout the summer, this way your child is welcome to sign up for multiple weeks.
